On Tuesday, July 22 at 7pm Troy Bany, a 25 year veteran of the Lake Oswego Fire Department and a Beekeeper, will present an introduction to urban beekeeping, beekeeping tools and equipment, and local regulations to keeping honey bee colonies, as well as an introduction to honey bee biology.
Troy writes, “I live in West Linn and run a small hobby farm on the banks of the Tualatin River. I’m 25 years married to the love of my life. My wife Gina is a local realtor and helps me on the farm. We have three grown sons. We grow pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, zinnias and sunflowers.
I started raising honey bees six years ago when my wife gave me two hives for Christmas. Today I have five hives in my bee yard. I am a member of the Portland Metro Beekeepers Association, Willamette Valley Beekeepers Association and I am currently a Journey student in the Oregon Master Beekeeper program. My goal is to teach people the importance of honey bees and how rewarding raising honey bees can be.”
