What is YAC: The Youth Action Council is an advisory and action board that works directly with the Parks & Recreation Department to plan, promote and implement teen activities within Lake Oswego. It is an opportunity for students to define immediate and long-term needs for teens in the community and attempt to meet those needs throughout the school year. YAC has successfully planned sports leagues, volunteer opportunities, planning sessions for City Council and recreational events/activities within Lake Oswego. Events and activities are determined by each year’s council in October.

Member Requirements: Currently,19 students from Lakeridge and Lake Oswego High School hold seats on the council. Students are required to attend 9 monthly meetings, submit a minimum of 35 hours of service per school year and must serve as head chair on at least one event per year. Council members receive volunteer hours as well gain leadership experience, networking skills and more.
