Youth Action Council (YAC)

City of Lake Oswego Oregon Official Website

The Youth Action Council is a group of L.O. teens who work with the Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department to improve the quality of life for teens in our community. So far, YAC has successfully initiated a Flag Football League, the Best Guy In Town competition, seasonal fundraisers and monthly events open to all high school students!

YAC applications open April 1 for the 2015-16 school year!  Applications are due by 5pm on April 30 and can be returned to the Parks & Recreation main office or Teen Lounge in the West End Building.  Applications can also be emailed to Cydny Fletcher at

What Else Does YAC Do?

In addition to teen events and fundraisers, YAC also provides feedback to the Parks & Recreation Department about what teens in the community would like to see in Lake Oswego.  YAC has hosted teen forums for the Parks Plan 2025 project, debate parties for elections, poetry readings, and charitable giving projects.  The goal of the Youth Action Council is to provide teen activities for teens, planned by teens.  Currently, 18 students from Lakeridge and Lake Oswego High School hold seats on the council.  Students are required to attend 9 monthly meetings, submit a minimum of 20 hours of service per school year and must serve as head chair on at least one event per year. Council members receive volunteer hours as well gain leadership experience, networking skills and more.

How Can I Join?

The Youth Action Council accepts current high school students in May for the following school year.  You must be a Lake Oswego student in order to apply.  Please contact Cydny Fletcher at for more information.
