Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 2:00pm

Penny’s Puppet Productions presents a fun, musical puppet show that celebrates the wonders of trees. This delightful sing-along show is entertaining and educational!

Penny’s Puppet Productions founder Penny Walter states, “I believe imagination is not only for children but is something we should all strive to keep and to honor, for it is through imagination that growth, hope, and inventions are birthed…Children can become so involved with the interaction of the puppets that they do not realize they are learning…”  Walter has a Masters Degree in early childhood education.  She was a teacher in Portland area schools for three years before following her dream of becoming a full-time puppeteer and storyteller.  “Through the centuries, puppets have entertained…today the power of puppetry is as popular as ever in its use as an educational tool.”   Walter was the resident puppeteer at the Portland Children’s Museum for four years.  She’s performed in Portland Public Schools, Head Start programs, libraries, and festivals.  She teaches puppetry classes for teachers, professionals, and families.  Walter’s show is made possible by the Friends of the Library.
