LAKE OSWEGO – On Sunday, October 19, 2014, at about 11:18 a.m., kayakers found the body of a man floating in Oswego Lake near the address of 1940 Twin Point Road. They called 911 to report what they had found, and Lake Oswego police and fire personnel responded to the scene. The man’s body was recovered from the lake, and then officers conducted their investigation into the incident in conjunction with a Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner. Officers were able to identify the man as 79-year-old Richard Geary, the homeowner at the address where he was found.
Although it did not appear suspicious, the Deputy Medical Examiner was unable to determine the cause of death at the scene, so he took Mr. Geary’s body back to his office where an autopsy was performed. It was determined that Mr. Geary apparently suffered a heart attack and then drowned in the lake.
