First Class Investigators
The Investigations Division is made up of 4 Detectives, 1 School Resource Officer and 1 Supervisor. The Detective and School Resource Officer positions are staffed by officers who are selected for each of the positions for a period of 6 years. The supervisor position is staffed by a Lieutenant.
Detectives - on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - are responsible for investigating cases that would be too time consuming or involved for Patrol Officers. Our detectives are also members of the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team where they routinely investigate homicides, suspicious deaths, missing or abducted persons and other crimes of serious nature.
In 2008, our Detectives investigated 227 cases and were able to successfully clear 96% of them. In addition to the supervisory duties of the unit supervisor, the Lieutenant that holds that position often works alongside the detectives, helps with cases and is even on call some of the time.
School Resource Officers are responsible for student presentations and keeping our school campus's safe. These classes range from "Stranger Danger" to shoplifting. He also teaches students and parents about drugs and alcohol and Internet safety. During the summer, the School Resource Officer facilitates a 3 day "CSI" Camp, where students get an opportunity to learn about things like fingerprinting, crime scene photography, plaster foot impressions, evidence packaging and Police K-9's.
