Community Shred Day
Twice a year the City sponsors a free community shred day for Lake Oswego residents. Typically held in the spring after tax day and in the fall, community shred day provides secure, on site document destruction. In addition, all shredded material is recycled at the end of the day, making shred day both secure and environmentally sustainable! Service is on a first come, first served basis and limited to the truck capacity.
Spring Shred Event
The spring shred day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 10 am to 1 pm (or when the truck is full which may be before 1 pm), at the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way, rear parking lot. This free event, sponsored by the Police Department and Sustainability Program, is intended for Lake Oswego citizens only.
Up to three boxes per household* will be accepted. Staples, paper clips, hanging folders, and rubber bands are fine. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for donation to the Oregon Food Bank.
*Boxes up to banker box / case of paper size. Documents may also be brought in paper or plastic bags. Please do not bring multiple vehicles from your household!
During other times of the year, secure document shredding services are available at UPS stores, which charge a per pound fee, and from other area vendors. To find current secure document shredding vendors, rates, and locations, visit Metro's Find a Recycler website or call the Metro Recycling information at 503-234-3000.
