Join the City of Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department for Conjunto Alegre live at the Sounds of Summer Concerts. The concert takes place on Wednesday, August 19, from 6:30-8:30pm at Westlake Park. All concerts are free and family friendly.
Aquiles Montas was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Portland in 1978, bringing with him a deep and abiding passion for Latin music. His foray into performing began while performing salsa and merengue at private parties and later, after founding the Hispanic Student Union at Portland State University. In 1990, Aquiles beame the first promoter to bring authentic Latin salsa bands to the Northwest and is widely considered to be Portland’s Godfather of Latin Music. Aquiles has nearly 30 years of experience as a percussionist, playing tambora, bongos, congas, timbales, and all Latin hand instruments including the cowbell, maracas and guiro. http://montasmusic.com/conjunto-alegre/
