2016 Pavement Rehabilitation Project

Project Background/Summary

This project is part of the Citywide Resurfacing, Crack Sealing, and Patching program that encompasses preventative maintenance, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of the City's street network. Streets selected for treatment are chosen based upon a tri-annual pavement condition assessment and/or the coordination with other Capital Improvement Projects.

Project Description

This project will replace some catch basins and will repave five different streets within the city. See Key Documents below for 2016 Street Project Map.

The stormwater catch basin replacement will help improve stormwater quality.  These catch basins will allow heavier materials to settle out and oil and lighter debris will be separated from the stormwater.

Consistent with the City’s Pavement Preservation Program, these streets and sections were selected to be repaved based on the following factors:

  • PCI Rating – The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) is determined by a visual inspection of the street. The City contracts to have these inspections conducted on every street located within the City’s Urban Services Boundary on a triennial basis.
  • Cost Benefit of an Inlay/Overlay - There is a significant cost benefit when a street is treated with a grind and overlay. If the condition of the street is allowed to deteriorate, instead of grinding and overlaying the roadway when it has minimal localized failures and destressed asphalt on top. A more expensive complete roadway reconstruction would be required once the street worsens.Reconstruction also makes for a larger impact to residents and traveling public.

All of the work is scheduled to be completed by October 28th.

Once a contract has been awarded, a more specific schedule and any other updates will be posted on this site once construction begins.
