City of Lake Oswego

Underground Injection Control

The City manages drywells across town that collect stormwater from adjacent streets and right of ways and discharge the stormwater 10 or more feet below the ground surface. These drywells are regulated by Oregon DEQ under Underground Injection Control (UIC) regulations in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. Drywells in Oregon are either authorized by rule or require a permit. DEQ issued a draft general permit on August 19, 2015. When the permit is finalized, the City anticipates applying for this permit, and subsequently managing the City drywells according to permit conditions. DEQ's public notice and draft permit and evaluation report are available here.
