Upper Boones Ferry Road and Monroe Parkway Rehabilitation Project

Project Background/Summary

This project will repave the roadway along Boones Ferry Road from Kruse Way to the Lake Oswego/Portland city limit.  This project will not pave the area known as the Lake Grove Town Center.

If you would like more information about this project, please contact Crystal M. Shum, PE, Associate Engineer at email.

Project Description

This project is scheduled to begin mid-July.

This project will improve pedestrian facilities, improve stormwater quality, and will repave both Monroe Parkway and a section of Boones Ferry Road from the Country Club Road/Kerr Parkway intersection to the Oswego Towne shopping center at the LO/Portland city limits.

The pedestrian facility improvements include a portion of sidewalk that will connect an existing sidewalk on Boones Ferry Road near the Monroe Parkway intersection to Knaus Road.  The improvements will also include the reconstruction of ADA compliant curb ramps.

The stormwater quality will be improved by the addition of new sumped catch basins.  These catch basins will allow heavier materials to settle out and oil and lighter debris will be separated from the stormwater.

Both Boones Ferry Road and Monroe Parkway will be repaved.

All of the work on Boones Ferry Road is scheduled to be completed by August 26th.  The work on Monroe Parkway is scheduled to be completed by September 30th.

Updates for this project will be posted on this site once construction begins.

Updates

Update September 2, 2016

  • Boones Ferry Road
Striping work will begin on Tuesday, September 6th. This work will be done at night.

Except for the striping, all of the major work has been completed on Boones Ferry Road.  However, some work to restore landscaping and to add gravel along the shoulder will begin on September 6th.

  • Monroe Parkway
Grinding and Paving of this roadway will begin on Tuesday, September 6th.  All of the work on Monroe Parkway will be done during the day.  We expect this paving project to continue into the following week.

Due to the nature of this work, the schedule can change depending on weather.

Update August 10, 2016

  • Boones Ferry Road
Paving has begun on Boones Ferry Road. As part of this paving project, the contractor is required to remove (grind out) and replace the asphalt by the end of each shift. This part of the project is going well after a few hiccups on Monday night. Grinding will continue for the next couple of nights, then the contractor will repair some of the really bad areas of Boones Ferry Road by digging out 20 inches of material and replacing it with a new, stronger patch that will then get paved over during the last phase of the project. If all continues to go well, paving on Boones Ferry Road will be complete.

  • Monroe Parkway
Where the sidewalk has been removed, curb ramps will be formed up and concrete will be poured on Thursday and Friday of this week. Once these ramps are complete, the contractor will switch to the opposite side of the roadway to finish up the concrete work. All of this work will be done by the end of next week. Once the ramp is complete, paving will begin on Monroe Parkway.
