Bulky Waste Disposal
For disposal of large or bulky items such as sofas, chairs, refrigerators, washing machines, and other large appliances that have reached the end of their useful lives, Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste Services) provides additional curbside pick-up options for a small fee. Recycle Your Refrigerator or Freezer
Recycle your old, working refrigerator or freezer and save money and energy! Energy Trust of Oregon will pick it up for free and give you a cash incentive of $20 or $40, based on the age of the unit. It’s quick, easy, and convenient. Learn more on the Energy Trust web site or by calling Energy Trust at 1-866-368-7878.
Community Clean Up, Recycling, and Reuse Events
Community clean up, recycling, and reuse events are a great way to dispose of and/or recycle bulky waste and hard to recycle items. Additionally, at these events household items, bikes, and other materials can be collected for reuse and donation to people in need. Clean up events can also focus on natural areas, with ivy and other debris collected for composting.
The City will not be holding a community-wide clean up day in 2014. Rather, we are encouraging neighborhood associations, homeowners associations, and other community groups to organize smaller, dispersed events. A Lake Oswego Clean Up Event Guide and sample forms that may be helpful to plan and hold a clean up, recycling, or reuse event are attached at the bottom of this page. The Guide includes who to contact for additional information and assistance.
The 2013 Community Clean Up event was held on June 8. Thanks to our Community Clean Up partners: Republic Services, Metro, Community Warehouse, Community Cycling Center, and SBK|Green Century Electronic Recycle. For year round resources from our partners and more, click here.
Neighborhood Drop Boxes
Republic Services provides up to 15 donated drop boxes per year to be used for neighborhood and natural area cleanups or other special events with a neighborhood/community benefit. Find more information here, including the required Neighborhood Drop Box Application (please do not contact Republic Services directly).
