Recycle your Holiday Lights at City Hall!
From now through mid-January, there will be a collection barrel outside of City Hall for holiday light recycling. The barrel is behind City Hall, at the turnaround where the library book drop off and ballot boxes are located. Bring in your broken strands of lights (LEDs included) and dispose of them in the barrel. Republic Services will periodically empty the container and take the strands to their Wilsonville facility for recycling.
Any questions about the program, please contact Jenny Slepian directly at 503-635-0291.
Republic Services recommends that residents to utilize the boy/girl scouts recycling programs to recycle their holiday trees (Republic donates drop boxes for their cause). Here are a few options:
- Boy Scout Troop 230 will be recycling Christmas trees at Yakima (4101 Kruse Way) from December 31- January 2. Check their website boyscouttroop230.org for more information.
- Boy Scout Troop 4018 will be recycling Christmas trees at George Rogers Park on January 7-8 from 9am-4pm. A donation is suggested.
- Girl Scout Troop 45018 will be collecting trees in the GR Parking lot, January 7 and 8, from 9am-4pm. A donation is suggested.
You can also bring your tree to S&H Landscaping at 20200 Stafford Road for recycling. They charge a flat $3 fee to recycle your tree of any size.
If your tree is too large to fit into your green yard debris cart, we suggest that you do not leave your Christmas tree on the curb for pickup. You WILL be charged by Republic Services if they pick up your tree! The amount charged can range from $15 to $65, depending on the size of the tree. There will be additional charges if the tree has ornaments or other decor on it.
