LO Speaks!

Join the Youth Leadership Council for the Inaugural LO Speaks program!

The Lake Oswego Youth Leadership Council (The Youncil) is excited to bring you the LO Speaks program in partnership with LO Reads on February 3, 2018 at Lakeridge High School’s Auditorium. The theme for LO Speaks is Untold Stories and will feature youth, community, and business leaders from Lake Oswego and beyond for a morning of TED style talks.

Speakers include:

10:10 am: Wrong Turns: Finding Answers for Chronic Autoimmune Disorders Claire Fennell, published author and LOSD student

10:25 am: In Livable Cities is the Preservation of the Wild Mike Houck, Executive Director, Urban Greenspaces Institute

10:40 am: Money, The Next Generation, and Changing the World  Amy Pearl, Executive Director, Hatch Innovation

11:00-11:20 am: Concessions Break. Concessions help cover costs for the Youth Leadership Council trip to the National League of Cities Conference in Washington D.C.

11:25 am: How Not to Chop Down a Tree Ian Reeves, Spanish Teacher, LOSD

11:40 am: Stories of Victory: A Look Inside Oregon's Only School for Children and Teens with Autism Tricia Hasbrook, Executive Director & Thea Schreiber, Co-Founder and Director, Victory Academy

11:55 am: In Misadventure, Too Steve Duin, Columnist , The Oregonian

12:10 pm: Speaker Q&A

Each speaker will share a 10 minute story or life lesson on various topics not commonly discussed. Moderators from the Youth Leadership Council will tie in each topic with some of the themes present in the 2018 LO Reads selection, Good Morning, Midnight. Join the Youncil for an engaging morning of diverse speakers, conversation, and thought-provoking untold stories!
