The City of Lake Oswego held a Special City Council Meeting on March 31 to consider resolutions related to the recent court judgment regarding public access to Oswego Lake. Following a community input session, Council voted as follows on two resolutions:
- Voted (5-2) against authorizing the City Attorney to appeal the Clackamas County Circuit Court judgment related to public lake access from City park property.
- Voted (7-0) in favor of directing the City Manager to adopt City Park Rules and identify other actions available to the State of Oregon, Clackamas County, the City of Lake Oswego, and Lake Corporation in managing public access.

In April, portions of Firwood Road, Oakridge Road, Crest Drive, Middlecrest Road, Glenmorrie Drive, Westview Circle, Woodland Terrace, and McNary Parkway are scheduled to be paved. Paving may include extensive repair areas, grinding existing pavement, and a new overlay or pavement of the driving lanes. You may see roads with lane closures and flagged one-way traffic, or full road closures with detours for everyone’s safety. Schedules are subject to change due to weather.
Pedestrian improvements are coming in summer/fall 2025 to portions of Meadowlark Lane, Tree Top Lane, Carman Drive, and Pilkington Road. Please join us for the final design open house on Thursday, April 10, to see how community feedback has shaped the final designs, connect with the project team, and learn about upcoming construction.

You’re invited to a free Tree Planting Workshop on Saturday, April 12.
Learn what the City is doing to prepare for the arrival of Emerald ash borer (an invasive insect pest that threatens all ash tree species) and practice proper tree planting techniques while we install a variety of native tree species to help replace the inevitable loss of the ash tree canopy.
This workshop, led by Parks & Recreation staff, will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Foothills Park Pavilion, 199 Foothills Road.

Lake Oswego Public Library invites the entire community to participate in this year’s 2025 Lake Oswego Reads program featuring How to Read a Book by Monica Wood.

On Saturday, April 26, the City will be holding a one-day-only drug take-back event to help community members properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
This collection event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Avenue. This event will be a drive-thru collection - please stay in your vehicles.

In 2021, Arab American Heritage Month became federally recognized and in July of the same year, Oregon became the second state to permanently recognize Arab American Heritage Month. The City of Lake Oswego honors the contributions and celebrates our local community of Arab Americans.
